Vice President for eServices Candidate

Despojo, Ronan Rawnsle L.

Goals

Let’s face it—eServices is currently limited to web or web app development. As such, should you give me the chance to serve Ateneo MISA as Vice President for eServices, I aim to empower our cluster to accomplish more for the organization through a greater number of IT solutions. Each member will be given the chance to select a track in Data Science and Analytics, Systems Development, or Web Development. In selecting these tracks, members will undergo various projects and monthly lessons in order to culminate their skills towards shipping projects for clients of Ateneo MISA. In addition to this, I aim to provide members with the opportunity to bond and collaborate with one another through low-stakes hackathons. These hackathons will also provide our members with the chance to get to know how to work with one another and befriend each other. Finally, I aim to empower the MISA eServices cluster through development of client and external projects that provide real-world experience in handling development initiatives relevant to businesses and corporations.

Platforms

  1. eServices Curriculum for Skill-Building – eServices members will follow structured skills training tracks and roles in line with their position and preference. This will be established concretely with the roll-out hands-on projects, skill-building hackathons, and structured lessons. To note, I will conduct these lessons monthly as Vice President for eServices given my specialization in Data Science and Analytics and the experience provided by classes I’ve undertaken in Computer Simulation and Modeling as well as Pattern Recognition. Tracks include: data science and analytics, systems development, and web development. Project examples include machine learning algorithm or neural network development and key systems analysis initiatives. Training will occur within four (4) phases throughout my time as Vice President for eServices. Overall, each member will be trained to execute projects specific to one of the three tracks, earning revenue for MISA and gaining new technical skills to add to their resume.

    1. BETA Training – Phases will focus on training BETA to take on mentorship roles in their selected tracks (Data Science and Analytics, Systems Development, and Web Development). Training will be culminated by deployment in client and internal projects expanded towards the given tracks, such as in developing neural networks or computer simulation models that support client requirements. Projects will thus be taken on in the First and Second Semesters. Each phase also includes cluster bonding through an introductory hackathon, so members immediately gain the opportunity to get to know who they’ll be working with and how to collaborate with their teams.

    2. Officer Training – Phases will focus on training officers for deployment. Officers will be part of mentor-mentee groups with their BETA leaders in order to further their lessons in their selected track. Bonding occurs through hackathons. In addition to this, officers will be deployed to accomplish projects specific to their track in Data Science and Analytics, Systems Development, or Web Development after their training in the First Semester.

  2. Community Growth – Members will use developed skills from the curriculum to teach one another during monthly to bi-monthly skill-building sessions. Cluster members will also evaluate cluster initiatives, projects, and the curriculum quarterly through an onsite meetup. Onboardings and offboardings will be required per project to ensure the quality of projects executed matches member preferences. Members will also be assigned to mentor-mentee groups that provide opportunities to learn from each other in their respective track

  3. Accountability and Transparency – Quarterly project and curriculum evaluations will be conducted. These evaluations will provide insight as to the current efficiency of projects being accomplished by eServices members and its relevance to the eServices cluster and MISA.

  4. Project Execution – Members will be designated to concrete roles within the scope of their position, preference, and track. Projects will be executed accordingly. Client acquisition and relationship management will be overseen by the Marketing cluster and I as the Vice President for eServices. Members will be able to execute projects in alignment with the new skills acquired through their tracks in data science and analytics, systems development, and web development. For transparency and continuous project intake, a project tracking system will also be implemented in order to view the feasibility of proposed projects alongside projects currently under completion.

  5. Expansion of eServices IT Solutions – Given the eServices Curriculum, which focuses on expanding the current skillset of eServices’ members towards Data Science and Analytics, Web Development, and Systems development—as it is currently limited solely to web or web app development, the cluster will be able to take on clients who need other types of projects handling data.
