Vice President for Events Candidate

Gutierrez, Geline Stephanie C.

Goals

For my term as Vice President for Events, my primary goal is to elevate both the quality of execution and the overall experience of being part of the events cluster. I want to ensure that MISA events are not only well-organized, but also intentional and impactful for the members they serve. This means going beyond completing weekly deliverables but also focusing on creating events that leave a lasting impression and contribute to the organization. Another key goal is to prioritize the growth and development of officers within the Events cluster. I want to create an environment where officers are not just assigned tasks, but are given opportunities to take initiative of their work and develop confidence in their abilities. By the end of my term, I hope that officers will feel more equipped in leading and communicating with their core team I also aim to strengthen the sense of community within the Events cluster and the organization as a whole. Events are inherently collaborative, and I believe that strong relationships within the team contribute directly to better outcomes. Fostering a culture where members feel valued makes the experience of working in MISA just as meaningful as the events themselves. Lastly, I aim to build continuity within the events cluster by establishing systems and practices that can be sustained beyond my term. Even though this was done before by the previous VP for Events, I hope to make it easier for future Events officers to understand their work and the value that they would be giving to the MISA community.

Platforms

As Vice President for Events, my platform will focus on three core values of Events: Structure, Development, and Community. In terms of Structure, I aim to strengthen the internal systems that support event planning and execution. This includes standardizing workflows, creating clearer and breathable timelines, and improving documentation practices to ensure consistency across all projects. By establishing more efficient systems, the core team will be able to focus more on execution and creativity, rather than navigating unclear processes. This will include revamping the Core Team’s masterfile, amending the Events Officers Guide for new Ateneo processes, and ensuring that the timeline is transparent to the core team. I also plan to improve communication channels within the cluster and with other teams, most especially for the events that have external stakeholders such as CoLab, NetNight and IM Summit. However, I understand that this would also be in collaboration with other clusters such as OSG and Marketing.

For Development, I want to invest in the growth of every officer within and outside the Events Cluster. This involves conducting training sessions after the deliberation period of officers to equip them with the necessary skills in logistics, project management, and communication. Since the tasks of Logistics and Programs heads overlap with officers of other clusters, I believe that it is also efficient for them to know the processes of each cluster. I also aim to provide them continuous mentorship by guiding officers throughout each project and offering feedback. By empowering officers to step up and take ownership, I hope to build a team that is not only capable, but also confident and proactive. In terms of Community, I want to foster a stronger sense of camaraderie within both the events team and the organization. I plan to encourage collaboration not just within projects, but also through initiatives that allow members to connect. This can be in the form of an Events Cluster Hangout at the start of every semester and Pre-Event and Post-Event informal dinners. I believe that these are the initiatives that worked this school year and would be great to include next school year!

Overall, my platform is centered on having a balance between work and building relationships. This is to ensure that all MISA’s events are executed smoothly while making sure that the events also give value to the people involved, our core team and our stakeholders.
