Vice President for Human Resources candidate

Senga, Kodi B.

Vision

I envision MISA to be a place for people to grow in their college careers, but more importantly as a place to build relationships with one’s peers in an organic and safe manner. I believe that productivity and organic friendships are not two different sides of the same coin, but rather two areas of one’s org life that mutually augment one another. I envision a MISA with regular, predictable, and easy to join initiatives for both members and officers. I envision a Human Resources cluster with clear roles and sustainable delegation of tasks.

Platforms

Regular “RLab” initiatives - I believe that MISA can benefit from smaller, regular, more predictable initiatives that require little to no overhead from an officer’s perspective, but provide avenues and opportunities for MISAns to build friendships. - This will take the form of regular “RLab” initiatives that will take place once or twice a month within the campus, either in RLab itself, or borrowing its name and feel and transferring it to a different place.

HR Cluster Officer role clarity - I believe that HR currently faces a role clarity crisis. My experience as both an Events and HR officer has led me to believe that HR works best when people are explicitly specialized.- This will take the form of three different kinds of HR officers

- Human Resources Project Officer - Deployed to events cluster events and in charge of Group Dynamics, Individual Consultation, as well as “Kickstart Meetings” - Membership Relations Officer - In charge of internal member-facing initiatives such as the proposed regular “RLab” initiatives, as well as seasonal initiatives such as MISA Halloween, Christmas, and Valentines - Officer Relations Officer - In charge of internal officer-facing initiatives such as continuing the practice of BETA Hangouts, Officer enrichment opportunities such as workshops, and possible new initiatives in the future HRPO Kickstart meetings - I believe that good rapport is essential in producing good work in the events cluster. - To this end, HRPO’s will have the explicit role of “Kickstart Meeting” moderators. This Kickstart Meeting may be held before or after an event’s core team onboarding. The meeting will be focused on getting all of the core team members together,
